MSU vs. VCU

Hey,

I'm having the hardest time deciding between these two school's combined BA/MD programs and I would love to hear some suggestions from you guys.

Here are some info of each:

MSU Medical Scholars
-instate for me, close to family
-will cost about $5000 a year after scholarships
-campus is nicer
-can take 7-9 years (but very few complete it in 7 years from what I've heard)
-honors and lymann briggs
-more selective, only 8 kids instate, 10 total

VCU GMed
-Got Presidential but still have to pay an out of state fee
-medical school ranked higher (should that be a consideration?)
-one person- one room + one bath
-in honors and biomed program
-better weather :)

And does anyone know, residency placement-wise, which one is better?

Thanks

Hey,If money is not concern go to vcu otherwise you are ok at msu.Being closer to home is awesome.

Residency really depends on your usmle. I have seen list somewhere for both but i dont remember. Not a big diff.Although vcu might have better placement.

Placement really does depend on scores, so don't be too worried about that. If money is not a huge issue, go with the campus you like more.. you will be spending a longgg time there. Good luck deciding... and if you do end up choosing gmed at VCU, we will be classmates next year.

what's VCU?

well, if you go to MSU we'll be classmates next year. ;)

MSU CHM gives out scholarships too I heard

thanks everyone.
After some discussion w/ my parents I've decided to go to msu b/c it's close to family, and it would be nice to go back every other week for some real chinese food lol

icypineapple, vcu is virginia commonwealth. also, did you join the fb group for msu med scholars? It's http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=9473089270 if you haven't joined already.
