Congrats to you and your son MTMajorCook! That has got to be such a relief as well as acknowledgment of his talent! Looking forward to more updates!

New here on the site. First post, though my husband and I have been reviewing many of your comments for a few months with trepidation over all that had not been prepared, once we saw the preparation so many of your kids have. Silly us - we thought surely that with many roles (leads and otherwise) in so many shows, and a seriously classically and broadway trained voice (Gov School and all that…though not so "belty…"arghhh,) with all kinds of accolades and a member of her perf arts academy, - that our daughter would at least have a fighting chance.

And then we read about all the specialized musical theatre coaching like out of New York and such that many have gone through… But we read it too late, our hearts sunk about what we didn’t do as parents! - she was already in the midst of auditions with 3 behind her - and also ever the audition/MT diva -we’re not allowed to speak to her about it. She’s like “I’m done.” With senior year, shows, SATs, Choirs, Acapella groups, President of things, and all these auditions - she just doesn’t want to hear our mouths about finding MT coaching now and fitting that in late in the game.

However…this long diatribe has a slightly good ending… Whoop Whoop at our house now - and while it may not be the most competitive school out there - goinplacesmoms’D has just received her acceptance and a big fat talent award to University of the Arts for the BFA in MT. YAY!

At least now she can go to all the rest of her auditions through February knowing that she is going to major in Musical Theatre as she plotted and worked for all these years.

I’d like to thank MichaelNKat for his many informative entries about U Arts so that we will know some things when it comes time to decide in April… Yay at our house.

My D also accepted U Arts for Acting!! If both girls go they will share some classes together even though one is acting and one MT.

Congratulations! Well, let’s start doing it as it has been done in the past. It makes it easier to keep track when the list gets long. I made both posts red so everyone has a turn with a red post :)

Carefully copy and paste the list AND the instructions. Add your info so that is appears in red. To use red, you would post it like this BUT YOU CANNOT HAVE ANY OF THE SPACES INSIDE THE BRACKETS SO REMOVE THEM:

I don’t have to be on this thread actually since it’s MT… Was just sharing since they could be in same class.

Congratulations!!!

goingplacesmomsD: I can absolutely relate to your post. I don’t know if you’ve seen any of my other posts about this topic, but we were going through this process a year ago, and my D did not do any special coaching other than her private voice teacher and her public high school drama teacher (A Penn state grad). We live on the west coast, and did not do any school visits or on-campus auditions either. Everything was done at Chicago unifieds due to distance and cost. No summer programs at the MT colleges/universities/conservatories due to distance/cost/time factors. My heart sank many times reading CC posts about kids earning equity points in high school summer stock, using professional coaches, Moonifieds, etc. etc. etc. But kids can and do get into excellent programs in spite of the lack of those types of things so hang in there!!!

Woot Woot!! CONGRATS!!

And I feel you goingplaces I’ve had moments of just about terror hoping I helped my S prepare enough. I’m sure you’ve read this over and over “they end up where they are meant to be”.

RELIEF!!! Daughter has been accepted in the University of the Arts BFA MT!!! Sure does take some pressure off for future auditions!
