Mt_junkie91: how did you find out? They said they were not mailing until today.....

Congrats! This is such an exciting time! I've been accepted to my TOTAL safety, Washington State University for their BA in Music and Theatre. I want a BFA or a BM program.

Georgeanne - Congratulations! I think doing audition season with a safety in hand makes it soooooooo much easier.

My daughter was accepted to The University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana into the
BFA in professional acting in the Theatre Department

Congrats to our latest members' news!

Georgeanne, having a safety BA in the bag is great. You know you can study theater/music there.

Tina...super news about your daughter and she already has a fine BFA Acting program and so the rest after this is gravy. It would be nice to have options but she can only attend one and she has it already! A nice way to start the audition season.

monologue: cool! Which studio?

Notification of studio placement usually comes about a week after acceptances and so nobody knows their studio unless they said they would ONLY take CAP or ONLY take another studio.

soozievt: There is a big, fat, white envelope from Emerson sitting downstairs with my D's name on it... and I can't open it! and she is at school still in a theatre workshop. Ugh! I keep thinking about how they can be accepted to the school and not the major... so this envelope is laughing at me..........

chrissy, did you ever read my post from four years ago about this very thing from Emerson? It was a bizarre situation at our house. Emerson was not D's top choice but she applied EA to have one audition before the holidays and to hear from one school early. A very good friend from HS also applied EA for MT to Emerson. My D had always said to not open any of her college mail (which of course I would never do without permission anyway). So, on Dec. 15, her friend drives home for lunch (my D did not yet have her license). Friend goes back to school to say she got in. My D calls me from school and asks me to go get the mail and so I drive out to our mailbox and the delivery person is just delivering it and it is a big white envelope and I am all excited and even tell the delivery person, "My D just got into college!" I go back to the house and D calls and asks me to open it while she is on the phone and so I do and start reading it to her about how she is accepted and there is all this stuff inside about her acceptance and enrolling and all these bells and whistles and so I have all this excitement in my voice. I keep reading down the letter and come to where it says she is admitted to Emerson but deferred until spring for the MT program. We had no idea at the time that such an outcome was a possibility....we thought it was all or nothing (or deferrals overall). We did not know you could get accepted to Emerson but deferred for the MT Program til spring. Being admited to the college was a nice achievement but didn't mean that much since she would never go without the MT program. Turns out, her friend read the letter wrong and she too was admitted to Emerson but deferred for the MT program until spring. Turns out my D was not admitted for the MT program in April and her friend was admitted and enrolled. Just to show the unpredicatability...friend applied ED to Tisch and was denied and my D was admitted there.

I no longer will ever make the mistake in assuming that a fat envelope or letter that is all about acceptance is the whole deal again. I felt really stupid for the excitement about "you got in" when it wasn't what it first seemed.

Let us know how it turns out for your D. Remember that she could be accepted to the school and deferred for the major (not necessarily rejected for the major). Emerson told my D that the pile of "deferred for the major" was very small.

I know... I read that message by you... which is why until she opens it, I don't know what it means. I know Emerson mails the acceptances in big white envelopes, but she could be accepted into Emerson, but deferred for BFA Acting.... I promise I'll post as soon as I know. I already discussed your message with her, so she knows this is a possibility.... ugh... the waiting is killing me...

SHE'S IN! My D was accepted to Emerson BFA Acting! Wheee! This is one of her favorite schools, so she is soooo excited!

Yay! That is wonderful news! What a great way to start her audition season and it lessens the pressure if she is in at a favorite already. Way to go for your D!
