Son is doing fine! He really has narrowed down his preferred schools through the audition process, and for better or worse, really is focused on the schools where auditors worked with him during the audition.
Regarding Portals - I think I prefer the letters or emails rather than trying to decipher the portal coded blurbs without a key to refer to.

My heart just went pitter patter for you. I absolutely despise logging into those accounts for that very reason. The anxiety level goes up 200%!! I refuse to log into Ithaca for this very reason. I would rather think they are literally updating his account with something good OR maybe everyone’s is down right now.

Your student could call the number and ask. I think they will tell him what it means.

How do you check your status with Montclair? I go to the check admissions status page and it still says “admission fee paid”. This hasn’t changed for two months - is there another portal that I should be using?

@cheeseheadmike Does yours sayReview Application? Mine says the same as yours…I was wondering the same thing. When I click on it, it says audition not received…

Sorry, maybe I was premature on the last post. I clicked on “check application” and under the audition section it says NO MUTR 2/17/14. I assume that this means No to musical theatre, right?

@bisouu - yes, I meant to write “review application”.

Where is the “check application” line? And yes I think that is what it means… so sorry @cheesheadmike

That’s how we are taking it Mike, it means no musical theatre. I went to Target for retail therapy and feel refreshed! We are on break this week and I’m actually looking forward to going back to work so I won’t be checking every site under the sun for at least 7 hours

Yes, MUTR, does mean No Musical Theatre…I know this because my S was rejected from Montclair.

It’s OK. Montclair wasn’t as much on her list as it was mine. She still has yet to hear from 12 schools and has 3 auditions yet to go: Webster, CCU, and OCU. She has one verbal acceptance in her hip pocket, so we’re not too stressed.

Husband and I were rooting for Montclair, but son seemed indifferent at the end. He has one acceptance and two rejections and I interested to see how he responds if he is rejected from a favorite. We are acting low key and honestly feeling OK so far.

Thanks for the info about Montclair. D got a no too.

Just checked myIthaca (with D’s permission) to see if the site was down, @MTMommaJAA. The “what we still need” for my D was updated sometime since this morning – the only thing that was there (Audition) has moved over to the What We Have Received column, which in past years seems to indicate that they’ve made a decision, though notification of that decision might take a few weeks (from what I’ve read). So maybe they were updating a bunch at a time and you happened to check during it.

For what it’s worth, D is not very hopeful for a yes from Ithaca. She absolutely loved the school and would be thrilled to be accepted, but it was a rough audition at Unifieds and a bunch of weird things happened right before it to make it her weakest one, in her opinion. So she’s not holding her breath on this one and will be totally okay if it’s a no.

Well, just called Ithaca…and they confirmed a decision has been made and he should be receiving a letter soon. Given he can’t get into his account…I don’t think this is good news. He was really hoping for a Yes from Ithaca. Oh, well…on to the next I guess.

Sincere thanks, @MTMommaJAA, for sharing this information. Hoping for the best for you, despite the indications from the website.

Just brought the mail in. A big envelope with Congratulations!! from a school that son cancelled the audition for after being artistically accepted to our in-state. The audition would have been this past Monday, so can you imagine if he had just auditioned, gets the big envelope, and it is for academic admittance? Oy!

On a similar theme, does anyone know whether Ohio Northern sends separate academic and artistic acceptances? D got a big envelope today from their admissions dept. She auditioned on 2/1 and they said we should hear within 3 weeks so hearing today would make sense. Unfortunately D has rehearsals this afternoon then dance class so may not see her until the evening unless I can get her to stop by home. Debating whether to boil a pot of water…

Try holding it up against a really strong light first. that worked for me, once.

Ha. I’ve tried that with a couple standard letters in the past, but couldn’t read anything. This one feels like it has a folder inside. Plus there is something smaller and bumpier in there. It really looks to me like an acceptance sort of package. Question is artistic v. academic.
