Muhlenberg Class of 2018

FA is available tonight at 5 PM according to an email I just got.

Good luck to all those awaiting FA!

D’s merit aid was half of what Dennison gave her. Very surprised.

Ours was less than hoped for…still waiting
to hear from a few others.

@raincat, Sorry to hear that. My D interviewed at Denison, but not at Muhlenberg. I wonder if that came into play? She did visit both schools. The endowment piece (Denison - $650m vs. Muhlenberg - $150m) may be a factor as well. Denison is my D’s top choice, but I was hoping that Muhlenberg would be have a similar COA so that she would have another option and another reason to visit.

D was accepted and awarded Presidential scholarship, a dance scholarship and Dana scholarship - lovely news and we’re proud, but I’m afraid it still may not make the cost affordable. Trying hard to crunch numbers for this excellent program. Good luck to everyone!

My S received a very nice package about 80% of tuition cost from Muhlenberg - plus work study option along with subsidized / unsubsidized loans options. The best offer so far but we have only heard from one other school regarding FA - waiting several others. I am hoping for a similar package from other schools.

@DarwinKnew - how were you notified of scholarships?

@Berricre8v they sent my D an email about 4:30 pm on Friday with the subject line “At 5PM Your Financial Aid Award Will Be Available”, and at 5 it was on the portal.

Ah, thank you!

Interesting…so we get a letter from Muhlenberg today telling us the Presidential Scholarship award for D is $18k. The $11k figure that I thought was her award came from the portal last week, and it was broken down into the Presidential Scholarship of $9k (maybe that was per semester?), with another line item, which I don’t remember what the wording was, for another $2k. I’ll have D check the portal again tonight, but this very much puts Muhlenberg in the running.

@sschickens - that sounds great. Congratulations on the awards!

@darwinknew, thanks, and congrats to your D as well! Please let me know where your dancer winds up!!

Just found out D was accepted at Oberlin…the plot thickens.

I haven’t heard back yet… do you think it’s a bad sign? My mom thinks I didn’t get in because I didn’t show enough interest

@sschickens - congrats again on the thickened plot!

@darwinknew, just found out D was invited to Muhlenberg Scholars, so she will have a very tough choice between Muhlenberg, Denison, and Oberlin. Also found out she was rejected from Haverford and Cornell, so it’s decision time and she’s on the clock!

@pianosam779 From the posts here it sounds like they’re continuing to send decisions. I would hang in there a little longer. Fingers crossed.

SS chickens - how Was you daughter notified about the Mulenberg Scholars program?
We are going to visit in a couple of weeks- S is a Neuroscience major.
3 other schools he is considering - UVM -honors college, Brandeis and Wheaton (MA) .

@onlyonemom, snail mail. Her Presidential Scholarship info came via snail mail about a week ago. It mentioned in that letter that any honors invites would come under separate cover. The scholars invite came 3 or 4 days after that (D got the letter on Thursday). There was the letter and a brochure with more details about the Scholars program. We’ll be visiting from Maryland on 4/12. Hope this helps, and good luck!
