Muhlenberg dance audition question

I hope it is ok to post a question not related to a dance major. My DD signed up for Muhlenberg's talent scholarship audition. She is not applying to a dance major but hoping to continue actively participating in dance in college and definitely take dance classes. Muhlenberg is the only school on her list that allows non-major students to audition. She is a good dancer and it is a great opportunity for her. However, she doesn't have any experience with auditions. Would someone who went to the audition at Muhlenberg tell us what she should expect?

My D went this fall. If I recall, it was a ballet class, followed by each student going back in for a short interview and solo performance.

We also got to see the dance department’s fall show.

Thank you, she has a solo prepared but she doesn’t know what technique she will be expected to demonstrate during class so she is a little scared to participate.

I auditioned back in October, they make it so relaxed and stress free, your D should not worry! There’s a Ballet class and then a modern class. In Ballet it was just barre, center, and across the floor nothing too crazy and in Modern we did a quick warm up and then a combination that went across the floor. After was the solos and interviews. I had a lot of fun and everyone was so nice!

We just returned from an audition yesterday, and my daughter felt it was a positive experience. Ballet was “good”, and modern was challenging and hard, but in a good way. Then there was a solo as well. I would say everyone was extremely approachable an nice. We stayed for the Masters of Choreography concert last night, and some of the dancers in the show (cast by audition) were not dance majors, so there are certainly possibilities there. About 70% of the dance majors are double majors, and some are dance minors with double majors in other areas. It’s pretty flexible. The dance/theater building is gorgeous. As far as the audition, it took about 2.5 hours, then a series of solos, in order of a predetermined list. The dance dept doesn’t require an audition, which you probably know – this is only for arts scholarships. I hope that helps.
