I applied to muhlenberg and my interview is on Jan 16! Can anyone share some questions that they ask in the interview? and what kinds of questions to ask them?

Hi! I had an interview with Cynthia Amaya, and it went really well. The people at Muhlenberg are some of the friendliest people you’ll find, and they will do their best to make you feel comfortable. My interview lasted almost an hour because it was a smooth conversation. We just kept talking like we had met each other before. The key to an easy interview is to bring a portfolio/resume so the interviewer will see what you’re involved in and then they’ll ask you questions about it, and essentially you’re guiding the conversation. Of course they’ll ask the basic questions like “Why do you see yourself at Muhlenberg?” and others like that. Don’t be scared, it’s not bad at all :)

My D prepared a list of questions that she wanted to ask about specific issues related to her intended major as well as questions regarding school spirit, etc. The interviewer told us they are always impressed when a student has specific questions about the college because it shows that they are interested. She also told us she was surprised how many students do not have any questions. Make a list before the interview. Good luck!

My D was very nervous before the interview but came out feeling like she had met a friend. It was a relaxed and informative experience for her, so my advice would be to ask the questions that are important to you, personally. I think they’re looking for your interest more than judging on the questions you asked.

D had a list of general questions that she asked at every interview. She also had a separate list of specific questions for each college that she prepared after visiting the college’s website. She was interviewed by Sally Slifkin. The interview was more of a two way conversation and went very well. She was told she interviewed very well. H is on a medical school admissions committee and did mock interviews with her. D is a freshman and loves it.

costume… i was also interviewed by sally slifkin. All of the interviewers there seemed really nice, and the interviewer does his/her best to make you feel at ease. They really want to get to know you, so just relax and be yourself and i am sure you will do great.

are interviews required?

i’m not sure if it’s required for general admission, but yes an interview is required to be considered for merit scholarships.

they are either required or HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you’re not submitting your SAT score

Hey there! I interviewed in December with Alyssa. It really was the most relaxed experience you could hope for. The interview is really just a conversation. Thats it. She asked questions like how school was going this year and what I was involved in throughout high school. She also asked questions like “why do you see yourself at muhlenberg?” and “if your classmates had to look back on one thing, what would they remember you for?”. They also asked at the end of the interview if I had any questions for her. Make sure you have something prepared. Alyssa also invited my mom to come in afterwards to see if she had any questions for her and just to kind of sum things up.

Really, don’t stress out about it. I was freaking out, but come interview time, the time will just fly, and it will be an easy conversation. Just have confidence! Remember, the interview can’t hurt you. Its not a requirement for acceptance, so it can only help them get to know who you are.

I was just accepted to Muhlenberg yesterday! Best of luck!
