Ugh…so hard for my son to choose. Financially with what Muhlenberg gave us they are about the same price. We want him to go to Muhlenberg because he is very disorganized and immature. However, he fears it is too small and just and extension of High School although he sees a lot of strengths. He has visited with schools twice and attended 2 classes at Muhlenberg-since he is in AP classes as a senior they were a review to him and he thinks Binghamton will be more intellectually rigorous. We are going back to Binghamton to try and get him in on 2 classes on Monday. I wish he would just decide because I don’t think he can do as well at Binghamton. Its a great school but much larger and he is who he is… :))
I can’t offer advise on these particular schools (I’ve Heard great things about both), but I relate to your situation. My son was a so-so HS student, disorganized, notorious for forgetting to turn in assignments etc… we really wanted him at a small LAC for the extra attention he’d get, but he thought they were too small. We let him go with his first pick, Rowan, and it’s worked out great. Class sizes are still small, but at about 17k, definitely big. He is finishing up his freshman year, and has really done well. We felt like it really was his decision and by letting him make it he would be more excited and motivated to succeed.
