Muir College

I want to live in a dorm, it's just that I'm not guaranteed a dorm all four years. That's why I was wondering about off campus housing.

Hey all. I just found out that I was accepted to Muir College as a theatre major for Winter 2010. I'm not sure if I'll be coming, but it's such an excellent option that it'll be hard to turn down.

Like many of the guys here said, Muir is pretty much in the center of the campus so you probably won't have to take a lot of those 20-minute hike to classes.. And I heard it's GE's are easiest in UCSD.

As for the Muir dorms and apartments, they're not very aesthetically pleasing from the outside, but I heard it's pretty nice in the inside. And I think they have the highest building for either the res halls or the apartment, and have the best view of the ocean. But then, i've never been into one, so i'm not 100% sure.

Also, there are a lot of apartments off-campus where students live in their junior and senior year. I lived in one for the first quarter of my freshmen year because i forgot to turn in the housing form, and it wasn't that bad. The rent was not cheap, but it was cheaper than living on-campus. And they have a really nice bus system here, so you don't really need a car to get to campus and get around in the city.

I remember the colleges right, Muir was the ugliest dorms.
Eleanor Roosevelt College was by far the nicest dorms.

i'm in muir too! well as long as the insides are nice, i can live with ugly exteriors. dunno if i'm goin to ucsd or not though.
so if muir was my first choice, and i got into first choice impacted major, am i really lucky?

^ Yes. Straight up, ya.

i think anyone who got in on Scholars Day got first choice everything.....just a guess.

got first choice, was not invited to scholars day.

suckers. you guys have no dining hall next year. hahahah

What? No dining hall?

are they remodeling summit or something?

That's lame. How far is the next closest dining hall?

wait why is there no dining hall?!

That's the first I've heard... hopefully he/she'll come back and say what's going on. Closest dining hall is probably a 5-7 minute walk. Depending on how fast you walk.

yeah, summit's under construction next year. OVT is kind of close though. I'd say it's a 5-10 minute walk

I guess that's a good thing. The more I walk, the less weight I'll gain, haha. I want to avoid the freshman 15.

Which dining hall has the best food and how long do you think summit will be under construction?

What is the percentage of Asians at Muir? Just curious. (:

not sure how long it's going to be remodeling, but my guess is for quite a while. OVT generally is known for their food, but after a while, all the dining halls don't seem too different. You generally go to whatever's closest to you. The only time you really explore different places is the first half of fall quarter.

and @ blackberry, there's a lot of asians everywhere at UCSD. I don't think Muir's any different in terms of asian density

How is the diversity at UCSD?
