For applicants to this program, has anyone heard back about their application to the multicultural open house?

Just got my acceptance 3 days ago, does anyone know how much weight this hold in admission?

I could be wrong about this (ask the Admissions Office) but I always thought the idea of an Open House was for the college to impress YOU, not the other way around! I imagine you’re invited to find out what you might like about Colgate far more than to impress anyone there. In fact, although Colgate will interview applicants who want an interview, the interview “doesn’t count” for admission purposes. It’s merely an informative interview so you can find out about the school. So I don’t think you need to give it a second thought. If you can go, go and find out what you like or don’t like. I’ve known students who went and fell in love with the place and even made a couple of new friends. Colgate has a long history of trying to enroll top ethnic minorities (and not just as athletes!) and does very well with that. About 25% of Colgate students are minorities, and it has significant numbers of just about any group you could identify – though more would be nice. Four students from the high school where I teach attended Colgate in recent years, one Hispanic, two black, and my daughter who is Asian-American. HEY, where are all the white kids?!!

Colgatedad, thanks for the extra information! I found out last week that I was accepted but I regretfully had to decline my invitation to the open house because I would be missing too many days of school this month.
