How hard is AP Chemistry?

What is the best way to do well in these these classes?

Is it bad to take both classes in the same year?

The AP Chem exam is not necessarily hard. I can’t compare it to other AP exams because its the only one I’ve taken but I would recommend taking Chemistry I, which makes understanding the concepts much easier. The two tricky things in chemistry are knowing exceptions to certain rules and the concepts. If you just want to get a 5 on the test you also need to be familiar with certain labs. Its not absolutely necessary, but highly recommended. Ultimately, if you understand the concepts you can get a 5. I did that and got a 5. As far as taking both those classes in the same year…good luck lol

These two are not difficult. However, you need to put in consistent effort into the class to do well.

I found physics the most challenging test I took behind Spanish. The curve is pretty generous though.

Chem MC is easy. not sure about physics

Physics: The MC is very concept and formula-based, as you get no calculator. FRQs are normally similar to past ones, so do as many of those as you can. If you take the SAT II Physics exam, I think you’d find that very similar to the Physics B MC.

AP Physics B
In my opinion, the MC is difficult since it stresses much on concepts and formulas. Moreover, it forces you to manipulate what you learn from the class/textbook and apply it. So, the multiple-choice isn’t straightforward, and during the exam, I felt that I need the formula sheet.

AP Chemistry
AP Chemistry MC is easier than AP Physics B since the multiple choice questions are straightforward. I find it moderately difficult but not as difficult as Physics B, and I didn’t feel like needing a formula sheet.

Since you are mentioning classes, read the textbook and pay attention to lectures. However, if you want to do well for the exams, read the textbook and review through Princeton Review for both subjects. Since Physics B is more difficult, make sure you understand the concepts well for every subject. You should do the same for AP Chemistry, but the concepts are more straightforward and comprehensible.

I do not really know, but some areas in Physics B and Chemistry are related.

i took ap physics this year and it was the hardest class/test i have ever taken. that being said i am not much of a science/math guy so it made sense but it definitely was a challenge for me. i have not taken ap chemistry so i dont know much about that
