Musette by Anna Magdalena Bach

My piano instructor gave me this piece to work on, and it looks REALLY challenging. I tried playing the first eight measure, and I had a hard time playing that. I have to have the first eight measures complete by the 20th of February. It looks really fun to play, and I plan on having a recital doing duets and playing this song.

If you're a piano player, how should I tackle this song?

This one?

How long have you been playing piano? It’s not hard at all for me, but I can understand that beginners would find it difficult. I think you should work on building muscle memory required for the jumps in this piece (slow practice).

Now this is difficult:

Use a metronome. Go really slow, playing only 2-4 measures at a time, only one hand at a time. Continually speed up until the desired tempo When you think you’re ready, do both hands but really slow, then speed up.

Most foolproof way to learn a piano piece :)

My guess is OP has been playing for 3-4 years

@aldfig0 Yeah that’s the one. I’ve been playing piano for 2 years. I worked on it last night, and I think I have the first eight measures down.

@609Represent I’ve been playing for about 2 years. Thanks the advice really helped.
