i wanted to know if anyone could tell me how Music 20 is as a class. what do you learn? i have hardly any experience in music, but I've recently become interested in simply learning about it. Is this a doable class for me to take? if not, are there any suggestions for another alternative?

It's a class designed for people with absolutely zero music background. When I took it, about half the students had no music background. It'll teach you how to read modern musical notation, the basic diatonic major and minor scales, and you don't have to know how to play any musical instruments; the entire course is designed around SINGING. Hell, you won't even need to learn the solfege (do, re, mi, etc); they teach "one, two, three" instead. And even if you're not a great singer or don't have a great ear, if you really put in the effort and it's clear to the instructor, you'll do just fine. It's pretty easy, the instructors are GENERALLY very good. You'll be expected to sing in front of the entire class at least a couple of times.

The exams involve both written, basic music theory that you'll learn as well as a singing portion. It's a good class for people without music background.
