I made a new account to post this question - some people on cc know who I am, and I'd like to stay anonymous.
I'm looking for a job as a counselor at a music camp for this year. I'm a freshman in college and a brass player (mainly classical, a little jazz). I was a counselor at a music camp last year, but for a variety of reasons I won't be returning.

I really like being a counselor, and to me that's more important than the music level of the campers. So Interlochen's top high schoolers are fine, but so are beginner 6th graders.
I have a few camps in mind, but I'm looking for more places to apply. Any suggestions?

(Note: I'm not a lifeguard but I do have other camp skills and experience, and I can do office/backstage work)

It’s a little tough to know what to suggest given that you haven’t named what you disliked about your previous place of employment, but Greenwood in Massachussets is supposed to be a very rewarding place to work. French Woods hires lots of people.

If you are currently a music undergrad, one of the best sources of potential summer music jobs, festivals, immersion programs and other opportunities including graduate level fellowships are the bulletin boards and resources within your current school of music.

I know it may seem obvious, but you’d be surprised at how many don’t know what resources exist within their current institution.

When my son attended the Governor’s School for the Arts, the counselors were all college kids. Many states have Gov Schools or something like them.
