Music Dorm

Hey all,
I’m a senior applying to Ohio State. Sent in my application in early December, still no word yet :frowning: anyways, I’m wondering if there’s anything resembling a music dorm at OSU. I’m not planning on majoring in music, but it’d make my life easier to have a roommate who understands why I drum for hours every day :stuck_out_tongue: thanks!

I’m not sure about an actual dorm, but when my daughter went to OSU a few years ago, we called the music dept to ask about opportunities for non-music majors to be able to continue playing instruments. They have several orchestras, the ones for music majors and for serious musical non-majors required try outs, but there was one for students who just loved to play–it did not require a try out and was in the evening so as not to interfere with classes. They provide instruments for students, a place to store them, and practice rooms.

Hi, I’m a freshman at OSU. Baker West is where you’ll want if you want to live with fellow musicians. Also, if you’d like, check out learning communities.

You’ll want to check out the Visual and Performing Arts one. I’m actually in the Engineering one and it’s a fun time. Actually, I would probably fit better in the Baker West as music is a major interest of mine, but anyway, it’s also good to have people around in the same classes as you. Hope that helps.
