Music & Economics Double Major

I am a prospective Music and Economics double major at BC with a few questions:

Is it hard to get accepted into both these majors simultaneously?

How much of a difficult path is this to take at BC?

Will this path be helpful for a career in music?

What is the music scene like for student bands (both official an unofficial) on campus and in the surrounding area?

i have the same question i am considering this option as well. I am a huge musician but also have a huge interest in the economic world

BC only admits to specific schools, such as Business, Nursing, Education or Arts and Sciences (“A&S”). In general, A&S does not admit by major. (The College knows that many student change their intended major once they are exposed to other disciplines through the Core. Philosophy is popular, for example.)

Music and econ would both be in A&S, where it is not difficult to double major if you have AP/IB credits coming in which will help fulfill some of your Core requirements.

A typical college major is ~10 courses, not counting prereqs. BC’s Core is 15 courses, but some of those will be completed just by taking major courses. Econ, for example, requires Calc, which also fulfills the Core requirement for math. Other Econ courses will fulfill the Core’s Social Science requirement (two courses required). A music major requires plenty of music courses, any of which will fulfill the Fine Arts requirement for the Core.
