Hi! I am a freshmen at community college in New York, but am looking to transfer to a school for music industry and recording. Ive been looking for the right school for about two years, so needless to say im a bit worn out and could use some help. Here's some info about me and my music life and grades!

In 2009, my band was voted best band of the Hudson Valley under Hudson Valley Magazine.
I've performed The Bamboozle festival with artists such as Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne, and Motley Crue.
I was featured in a 2011 issue of AP Magazine. (music magazine)
I run a recording studio out of my home.
I'm an intern at Cumulus Radio Broadcasting of the Hudson Valley in New York.
I've opened for bands such as Big time rush.
I've taken classes in music theory, piano, and have played guitar for eight years now, and am enrolled in a music production course at community college.
I've put out two albums with different groups.
I do a lot of social work, like volunteer at the soup kitchen and help to aid the poor
My grades are A's and B's.
I have a good knowledge of the music industry having met many interesting people, and am looking to further it through my education!

I have been looking at Belmont in Nashville and Suny Oneonta as I've heard they have good programs. I also understand NYU has a good recording program as well as a few others like the University of Michigan, New Haven and a few more. I also would be interested in schools that have an online portfolio process, as alot of my work was done at home or in other studios, but really any kind of school would work! Audition or not. If anyone recommends a good school to go or knows anything of Belmont or Oneonta, please feel free to help!! =)

I currently go to Belmont and am a Music Business minor (former major though) so I can answer any questions you may have! Would you plan on going as a Music Business major or an Audio Engineering Tech major? Either way if you have any direct questions about the programs, feel free to ask me.

Thanks so much! I had sent you a message but it says it didn’t send, I am very knew to this. So basically what it said was! Being from new york I have never gotten a chance to go to nashville but I have heard wonderful things. I could really go to Belmont for either business or recording, either or. I have a family member down there that owns a studio so I figured itd be awesome to go visit. Are the internships good? And how are the opportunities and local area? Basically anything you have on the school throw at me! I have no actual insight on it, just what I read on there website. Thanks again PRQuin!

PRQuin…
My son wants to get into Recording Arts. He would love to go to Full Sail, but I have my reservations about it for a few reasons. Can you tell me about Belmont’s Recording Arts or perhaps it’s Audio Engineering Technology at Belmont? Good program? Good community? I guess it would be part of Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business. Thanks for your time.

^^ Yes, compared to one of your in-state public universities, IU will cost you. If money is a factor, though, I wouldn’t think you’d give NYU serious consideration as it is pricey and has one of the highest debt loads. Though the recording program at NYU is great, consider that IU arguably has the #1 music school in the country (though Julliard might dispute that).

BR260354, My son is also interested in the recording industry. What are your concerns with Full Sail? We are just beginning to look at schools and I hadn’t her of that one yet.
Have any of you heard of Musicians Institute in California? Is it comparable to Belmont or the others mentioned?
