Anyone know how competitive the Drexel Music Industry major is?

i’d like to ask the same thing !!

incredibly. They accept about 40 students a year out of 700+ applicants. You need to have stellar grades, test scores, and a kick-butt resume to get in

Our son got accepted to Music Industry EA…the stats the program director gave us were 54 freshman seats available for 800+ total applicants - about a 6-7% program acceptance rate;
Also, they said they admit the first 20 music industry apps out of the EA pool, and the EA pool was about 80 apps out of the 800 music industry total last year… so your chances are significantly better being in the EA pool, even if you get deferred into the regular pool.

Just posting this for future reference for when next years HS seniors start looking on these threads. I was deffered EA1 to reg. decision, I thought I wasn’t going to get in considering the first half of my HS transcript was crap. My SAT’s were even below avg. (1460) ACT: 22. GPA from grade 9 to 12 was 1.7 —> 3.07 My guidance counselor, college counselor, parents, all didn’t think I would get in. But I wrote a great essay, sent in a pretty good resume, heavy emphasis on the music production I’ve done, and I think that’s what really landed me a spot in the program. I also visited the school and spoke with one of the program directors (not sure if that helped or not) And if anyone is wondering, I’m from MA. I know most people that go to Drexel are from NJ and PA.

AND I really did work my ass off to get the gpa I ended with–straight As for the last two years and two AP classes sr year

Hey,
I have. the same exact gpa as you did and I was deffered as well. Because we had similar situations, I was wondering if you think I have a fairly good shot even today. How many kids to you think get deferred before getting into this major?
