Would be very interested to hear from anyone who has experience with/knowledge of Northeastern's music industry minor. My son is interested in sound recording, music production, as a minor (wants to major in Biology with the possibility of med school in the future) and he's noticed that Northeastern has a music industry minor. The course list does seem to offer some music technology classes - which are what he wants.
Also - if you are at Northeastern, doing 5 yrs with co-op, and major/minor - are all of your co-op's for your major, or can you do some of each?
We are headed there to look at the school in the near future - but thinking someone out in CC world might be able to answer.
Thanks

My son is a HS Jr. interested in music recording as well. We are in New Jersey, but the Boston area, with Northestern and UMass Lowell, is still in our geographic range. Since you have no responses here so far, you might want to try College Click TV. It features focuses upon different schools, including Northeastern & its music co-op. It has interviews with current students about all issues. You can also get a music recording minor at SUNY Oneonta, with almost any major there (they say). Let me know of any progress you make.

When you do co-op, it is in your major. However, they help you get co-ops in areas you are interested in. If you are majored in chemistry but want to go into the business side of chemistry, your co-ops will reflect that. However, if you do biology, you won't get music co-ops. There is no point in getting a 6 month job in a field you will not persue, especially since biology and music are not really connected in the job market.
