I am applying to Northeastern, and their program does not require an audition for music industry. While they are moreso focused on actual hands-on experience in the industry, do schools that do not require an audition tend to hold actual musical skill in high regard? Or, is it something that they do not feel is significant enough to consider for admission to the program? I have limited experience in organizing/managing/promoting musical events, though I consider myself an excellent musician. Any insight would be incredibly helpful.
The industry mixes together so closely that I can’t imagine a successful person in the music industry not valuing music. The two people I knew in the program were also musicians.
This is a long shot, but do you know what kinds of things they included in their portfolios? Performances or moreso documentations of management instances? I’m hoping that my skill would still be held equivalently to some pre-experience in the industry. Thanks for your input.
No idea, sorry.
Generally, just relax! You’ve been all over the forums here, but you’ve done everything you can long ago. Chill, go enjoy senior year! College will be there all of the next upcoming years and I’m sure given the focus you’ve put into the processes that it will turn out well. Wait until you have to commit (or not if ED works out) to spend any more time here
You’re right haha, can’t help it. Naturally a very nervous person and have been losing sleep the last couple weeks over the college process, just have been looking for some reassurance.
Ya and, good intentions aside, telling someone to “just relax” has the opposite effect in my experience
Haha, @PengsPhils is right though, I need to chill out. I have a tendency to obsess about things I really want, which has both its positives and negatives.
@drummergirl I do get what you’re saying - that said, @maby56 has become the regular character here, and I’ve also had direct messages with them so hopefully the advice was interpreted with friendly context as it was intended While telling someone to just relax on its own may have the opposite effect in some cases, I tried to include more than just that and hopefully it read more as “go enjoy senior year as a distraction that may be helpful from all the excitement and anticipation of college admissions” more than “wow you’re anxious go relax and stop posting”. I first came onto this forum for decisions and was refreshing a single results thread for hours, I’ve been there. I can’t imagine how much time I would have spent if I found it sooner.
