How much do music lessons for non-majors cost when Taking 3 units for credit within the 57 department?

D decided to resume playing instrument she hasn't played for two years....

Will this show on the invoice or is it paid privately to the prof?

A friend and I were planning to sign up for voice lessons this past year, and I remember holding a physical sheet in my hands that had pricing on it, but I can’t for the life of me find it online. The best I can find is this:

“Take private lessons with faculty
Students also may enroll in private studio lessons in performance and composition for a fee, which is determined by the length of the lesson and the number of credit units. For information and to register for lessons, contact Daniel Barrett, Coordinator of Special Music Programs, dbarrett@andrew.cmu.edu.”

Sorry :(

Thanks Kate

She signed up in advance registration-- we are now just both wondering what the actual fee is going to be …it wasn’t on the July Invoice…

Hopefully it’s reasonable and nothing outlandish…or she’ll have to sell her instrument to pay for the lessons!

I remember it being somewhere in the ballpark of $2000/semester for the voice lessons we were looking at. I don’t know if it differs by instrument, though. Hope your daughter likes it :)

OMG…if it’s $2000 per semester, she’ll be taking lessons with a student instead…
yikes…way too much money (I’m sure it’s worth it - but not for a non- music students)! That’s more than cost of her laptop!

Sticker shock…thanks for telling me that…she needs to check that price before we’re invoiced.

It cost money to have private lessons with the professor?

Wow, I’m lucky. My last college and current college doesn’t charge. I’m not even majoring in music and I’m getting half an hour a week lesson from the head of the music department chair. I’m just taking private lessons to keep my music scholarship.
