Music majors-how long to hear back about audition?

Just a question for any music majors applying to UMich...they say that they have a preliminary review of your application and then decide if they will grant you an audition or not, how long does it usually take to hear back? I want to book my travel plans, but I don't want to have to pay cancellation fees and all of that if I don't get an audition.

I am applying for Performing Arts Technology. I submitted my application and portfolio pretty late…on the night before the December 1st deadline! But I received an E-mail from UMich on the 22nd (this past Thursday) informing me I had been selected for interview (PAT applicants don’t audition).

So if you haven’t received a notification yet, I imagine you will be getting one soon!

Good luck!

I submitted about a week before that…hmm that’s a bit worrying.

Blerns, don’t be afraid to contact the som and inquire about your status. Your notification will depend on what instrument or discipline to which you’re applying, the volume of applicants for same and your preferred audition slot.

Ps you cannot know, however, which audition slot you’ll get, so you really can’t book your travel until you’ve been granted an audition. There are several dates and while they try to accommodate requests, obviously they are not always able.

Yeah I’ve emailed them, but no response yet.
