Hello,
I have submitted my application for Case Western. However, I am really confused about if there is a music supplement and am also confused about auditions.

I'm not planning on majoring in music, but I'm interested in ensembles/lessons/etc. and if there are scholarships. But I can only find information to schedule an audition (after prescreening). I'm not really sure if I could do a live audition if I were invited.

What should I do? Should I just submit the prescreen and see what happens?

I went through this exact situation when I applied. There isn’t really a music supplement; submitting music materials won’t influence your acceptance to Case.

The pre-screen is only for music majors and some non majors trying to win some small scholarships that are offered. However, to gain acceptance as a music student or to get any scholarships a live audition is required (there may be some exceptions, but not many).

As a non major you can participate in ensembles and take lessons regardless. There are auditions for ensembles in the first two weeks of classes and some ensembles are non-audition. Lessons do cost something for non majors, but you are taught by some of the best, since CIM instructors teach case students.

If you think you may want to go for one of the non major scholarships or if there is any chance you would want to major I suggest you submit the pre-screening and see what happens. Worst Case scenario you don’t end up being able to audition live. It won’t effect your participation in music once you get to Case as a freshman. You should also email the music department (see their website) to ask about details, how much the scholarships are, and too see if there’s any way around the live audition.

Hope I helped, good luck!

Okay, thanks. That was actually really helpful!
