I’ve read a lot about music supplements recently, and I’m planning on submitting one to some very selective colleges (MIT, Stanford, Yale, etc.). I played piano competitively at a high level for ~11 years and then quit taking lessons/competing 2-3 years ago. I continued playing/performing at school and in community events, just not at a competition level. I also hope to continue playing recreationally/in an ensemble in college.
That being said, some of the pieces I’ve recorded for my supplement aren’t exactly extremely difficult (I’d say they are medium-ish difficulty), but I think I play these pieces pretty well. But I know that I won’t come off as impressive when compared to other pianists who play some very technically challenging pieces.
I don’t want to disclose too much personal information about myself/piano background, but do you think it’ll hurt if I submit my piano videos?
Personally I would not submit a music supplement unless it is of outstanding (conservatory level) quality.
