music supplement

Who submitted a music supplement and how much does it help?
Did anyone else meet with the head of the department up in Hanover?

I submitted a music supplement for voice. What instrument did you submit for? What is your degree of involvement with music/your instrument?

As far as how much it helps, I'm not really sure...I'd imagine it only offers an advantage if the board (I think it's reviewed by the specific department of music) feels that the tape is especially outstanding. I doubt the supplement will be a major determining factor, but I think it can certainly help an applicant stand out.

i submitted mine for voice too!
i am EXTREMELY involved with music. I go to a major pre college program in nyc every saturday, take private piano lessons, and i went to a prestigious summer program for classical voice this summer. I have also placed in a few national competitions.
i heard the dean of admissions likes singers or something though. So hopefully thatll work out! lol

Haha, wow, I study classical voice and am very involved, as well. Competitions/opera study programs/etc. I'm curious, what voice part are you?

haha yeaa im a mezzo
i do go to msm!
i went to the tanglewood program this summer which was amazing
i also did classical singer competition

i went up to dartmouth last month to sing for the head of most of the voice programs which was really great.

Voice supplement also, Bass II. It really wasn't very good, I wasn't warmed up well and it was kinda last minute, my teacher kinda rushed it, but I don't think it can hurt.

instrumentalist, flute actually, but I submitted a tape of my compositions.

didn't meet with music dept head, that's really great, you've def upped your chances.

Dean likes singers, huh? figures.... (lol)

going to send for violin. wow, so many voices! i did not meet with anyone from dartmouth... do you know if it's okay to send a cd but not a music teacher's rec?
(good luck to everyone)

I submitted an arts supplement last year for ballet. It allowed me to send an extra letter of recommendation. I thought this very worthwhile because my letter came from someone who knew me extremely well and over a long period time. I highly recommend it.
