I'm a freshman in high school and have taken private piano lessons for a very long time now. I am currently in grade 7 of ABRSM. I am not currently taking any music classes in school and don't plan on going into music for my career or anything, just for personal enjoyment. I was wondering what the pros and cons are of taking AP Music Theory, because it shouldn't be too hard for me. Is is worth using an elective on? Thanks!

Sure. It is really interesting. I love the class mainly because a lot of my friends are in it, but also because I really value what I learn (I don’t feel like a music novice anymore-- I know what sounds good together).

Also, I think music is a major part of your life, so do everything you can in the area you’re passionate in. Although you shouldn’t take it just to show colleges, colleges will appreciate your dedication to music.
