Musical Taste

I mean, it is pretty significant, but so was the Model T, and you don't see those around anymore :).

I think the song has its merits, but it's not hard to tell that it's a cheesy little pop song :).

I listen to albums on CDs and on my mp3 player.Live shows also. Elliott Smith had the greatest live acoustic shows ever.

lol true.

Elliott Smith seems to be the indie fanboy's wet dream. I like him, but I really think his death played a big influence on how big he became and it's been blown out of proportion. Kind of like Jeff Buckley

Yeah, I mean that is true, but most people don't know his significance. I think a lot of people know of him, but they often don't REALLY know his music. Most of them just see "Oh yeah, he killed himself." But man, his happy songs are a whole lot happier than any other "happy" songs I've ever heard, and his sad songs are sadder than any other "sad" songs I've ever heard. I think his music is by far the most human and easy to relate to.

Trust me, there's a HUGE following with him of people that really care and cared about him when he was alive. It's one big huge obsessive family! sweetaddy.com

elliot smith and daniel johnston should have a bipolar party

^Let's not exclude Syd Barrett!

SPELL IT RIGHT OR DON'T SAY THE NAME!

I've never heard Daniel Johnston. I just think Elliott's the most authentic musician, like....ever. And he loved robots. Alot.

i like hebrew folk songs and south asian chants

Elliott Smith's XO is one of the greatest recordings ever...and don't even get me started on his self-titled. If only I could have seen him live.

SERIOUSLY.

You know they're coming out with a "making of" book about the recording of XO? It should be coming out in March. The 33 1/3 series!

I read In the Aeroplane Over the Sea's 33 1/3 and it was pretty good. I'll definitely buy the XO book. If you haven't read "Elliott Smith" by Autumn de Wilde you should check it out, though its not the most informative book ever.

Of course! And I read the sad excuse for a biography "Elliott Smith and the Big Nothing" Just for the hell of it!

haha I don't plan on reading that one just from what I've heard. Do you post on sweet addy?

Obsessively. I'm pretty well known on there. Hahaha. Just look at the front page now!

Yeah, actually I went over there after I posted here and saw that. I lurk that board once in a while and I'll probably make a username and start posting soon.

You should! There's so much great information to be found there. It's kind of a clique, but I like to shake 'em up alot. ****es them off, but some people really like that so I still persist. Haha

Rap is music. It's just ****e music.

Hip-hop is the good stuff. There's a difference.

That's like saying rock music is better than guitar. -_-

I do, it's good. I prefer Black Holes and Revelations, though.
Blegh, that's tied with Showbiz as my least favorite of their studio albums. Origin of Symmetry is by far their best achievement, imho.

And can someone tell me this: Why does everyone listen to just SONGS and not albums? The album is like a snapshot in time, of everything that artist or band was going through in that short span of time?
AMEN!

...so, does NO ONE ELSE here hate Last.fm?? Am I the ONLY one for whom it absolutely does not work?? -__-

Black Holes has some good tracks, although it's a bit more poppy/mainstream with stuff like Starlight. I love Map of the Problematique though.

^ Take a Bow is actually probably my favorite from BH&R.

But these are my all-time top favorite Muse songs:

New Born
Bliss
Space Dementia
Plug In Baby
Citizen Erased
Microcuts
Screenager
Piano Thing
Map of Your Head
In Your World
Falling Away With You
Blackout
Butterflies & Hurricanes
The Small Print

Every single one of them has a special place in my heart. <3

And that's why it bothers me that Last.fm thinks I've only listened to Muse twice,
when really it's probably exceeded 1k times. >:[

yawn, it's hard to explain if you're not a hardcore hip-hop fan. Mainstream is a mockery of the real thing man! I love underground hip-hop.

^ I already know that. But "rap" is a vocal style. "Mainstream rap" is not the same thing as "rap".
