Musical Theater Prescreens - Class of 2022 (process/response)

@fancytheatrekid I still haven’t heard back from Ithaca, either! I know they’re sending rejection letters by snail mail, but most schools said that they would alert students of decisions by Dec. 23rd. I checked the MyIthaca peers section and it states that “The members seen below do not reflect the total number of students who have applied or been accepted to Ithaca, and not everyone in IC Peers will become an Ithaca College student.” Not really sure what to make of that! I did see what they need on “App Checklist” and “audition results” is something that they request in the admissions office. They have mine already, so I’m assuming it’s a no for me, because I otherwise haven’t heard anything (and my dance audition was the definition of a hilarious disaster)! I am, however, really concerned with how late these results are coming in. Airline tickets get more expensive with every passing day. Wishing the best to you/your kid!

Wrote to Rider last week and was told all of daughter’s materials were received and we would hear something aboutpre-screens by the end of the week. Well the end of the week has come and gone, and still no word. We submitted mid-late November.

I think we will just assume Rider is a “no” because after 7-8 weeks of waiting, something is clearly wrong.

@collegemom2000 I know they switched prescreen submission platforms (from Decision Desk to Accepted) so there could be some glitches. I would not write it off yet.

Speaking of Rider- has anyone heard if the dance call is at a different time than the vocal / monologue audition? (Chicago Unifieds) all I know is they told me a day and we requested “afternoon” so I am holding that whole afternoon open for Rider. The rest of our days are getting packed- so praying that the dance call is also that same afternoon!!! Should I check in with Rider or just wait and see… and hopefully it all takes place in that window?

@savedrama4momma it could be different this year, but last year Rider’s dance calls were separate from the audition slot. We experienced the same with Rider basically providing a day for the audition but not a time. It was challenging. She finally got a time just a couple of weeks prior to Unifieds and it ended up being a 4:30 slot. They were running behind and she ended up waiting nearly an hour. The dance calls were held on two different evenings at 6 pm in a ballroom at the hotel. Overall Rider was her least pleasant audition experience and even though she ended up getting accepted she had soured on the program after her interactions. Hopefully it will be better for auditioners this year.

I was wondering about you @collegemom2000 and if you had called Rider. Hang in there…if you don’t have a definite “no”, she could still be in it! Sending positive vibes…

so -didn’t pass prescreens for Ithaca. Now we have our answer

@fancytheatrekid sorry. So hard to get a ‘no.’ Maybe it is good to know now so you can feel the loss, move on and prepare for the auditions yet to come. BAL at the rest of them!

I agree - A no to a pre-screen is better than an audition followed by a No

My daughter auditioned for Liu post at North Texas Unifieds. They called her back. She talked to head of program. Seems like an emphasis on contemporary MT & Acting. We are intrigued

Anyone get the Wagner audition invite email today?

@Kkrazie -

My S17 was accepted to LIU Post for theater tech and we live not far away. We went to a couple of accepted student events and very much liked the program and the people we met who were involved with it. Ultimately, he wanted to be further away from home and a SUNY school was a better deal for us, financially.

After all these weeks, finally received a no on D’s prescreen from Shenandoah…

That stinks @MThopeful2022! Sorry to hear that. If they were going to say no, at least they could’ve done it sooner. :-q

Thanks @NYart15. Had a strong feeling it was going to go that way…D had issues with their application process/handling from the get-go…so it’s ok.

Yes-received Wagner invite. Anyone else on here?

@MThopeful2022 - I apologize for all the problems with the prescreen process. Our prescreen service provider declared bankruptcy in September and told us we had until November to find a new provider. That threw our whole process into chaos and we subsequently got behind. Please accept our apologies, we are working hard to clean up the transition and improve the process for our applicants. ~ VT

Thanks for posting @VoiceTeacher . I’ll pass that along to my D.

FYI, My S passed Elon prescreen. So it looks like the 1/17 notification may be a day early for others as well. Good luck to all.

@DramaMan did you find out via Acceptd or email?
