Hi tutu17.
There is a dedicated Musical Theatre forum which has lots of great information. You can also check out the Tisch and Steinhardt forums at the top of the MT forum. Best of luck to your D!!

thanks so much!

D is a VP major at Steinhardt (musical theatre). She is a rising junior and loves the program. Feel free to ask any specific questions you may have.

I would suggest that you become familiar with the actual classes that are required for each program. They are posted on-line semster by semester for Steinhardt.

Good luck!

Thanks-we just attended the open house yesterday for Steinhardt. Did your daughter have musical experience prior to entering the program as far as theory etc? My D is primarily an actor/dancer/vocalist and is a bit leery of taking so many music classes. She has taken private lessons over the summer with a Steinhardt instructor and absolutely loves him…
Does your D feel that the acting and dance component are as strong as the vocal???
I appreciate any help!

Anyone have any good inside scoop on the new studio for MT at NYU?

I would agree…you are in the wrong thread. The Musical Theatre thread is invaluable for anyone considering MT…lots of great information and experienced parents. You will get your questions answered (and answered and answered :)) over there! It got us through a very stressful and fun-filled year…and a successful one! Good luck…you are smart to get started early!
