<p>Having decided on Brown, I’ve already started thinking towards the fall, and I was just wondering what courses one ‘must’ take while at Brown? For me, teachers basically make or break the class, so having great professors would be a huge plus. So either to current students or others who have heard, which classes should I look forward to? Academically, I am open to different areas of study (probably anything except art/music is fine with me)</p>
<p>Also, on a side note, what are ‘gut’ classes?</p>
<p>I was talking to a few students who said that the first semester of intro Econ with the blind professor (don't know his name) was amazing....however, the second semester is taught by George Borts, a 95-yr-old who apparently is really horrible.</p>
<p>To those interested in French: I sat in on the French film analysis class with Shoggy Waryn...I was pretty impressed with the liveliness of the class, the level of French spoken by some of the students, and the very funny and engaging professor.</p>
<p>Joseph Pucci (classics) and Michael Putnam (classics) are supposed to be great.</p>
<p>take ps11 with tomasi this fall. I have already had a bunch of really great professors, but he is just plain aweseome.</p>
<p>and a gut class is one that is supposed to be an easy A.</p>
<p>Some of our most popular intro courses are:</p>
<p>PL 8 (existentialism w/ Reginster)
BN 1 (introduction to neuroscience--lecturers from all the rock starts in the department)
second on PS 11
EN 9 (course that famously led to the creation of Nantucket Nectars)</p>
<p>you can't go wrong with most of the upper level classes</p>
