Must You Submit All SAT, ACT, or SAT Subject Test Scores

@drusba i called and spoke with someone directly. Cornell REQUIRES ALL ACT scores, even though they are OK with score choice for SATs.

There is no audit trail on submitting scores, FYI.

If we don’t want to report all of the SAT2’s scores to all the schools that we are applying to, then what do we do with the common app? For example: For Stanford, my understanding is that we have to report ‘all’ scores. So my app would include all the SAT, ACT, and SAT2’s that I took. But my SAT’2 in Math 2 went from a 710 to 780, so I would prefer not to display the 710 if I have score choice as an option but then what happens with my common application section where we self report?

@Dungareedoll Check Stanford’s website again. They have made significant changes to their test requirements and no longer require all scores.

Stanford has not required all Subject Test scores for at least the last several years that I have been following. Until this cycle, they required all SAT1 and ACT scores, but that is no longer the case.

OK thanks for that update but what about my question:

If we don’t want to report all of the SAT2’s scores to all the schools that we are applying to, then what do we do with the common app? For example: Im applying to School A. They require all scores be reported but schools B and C do not. So my common app would include all the SAT, ACT, and SAT2’s that I took for school A. But my SAT’2 in Math 2 went from a 710 to 780, so I would prefer not to display the 710 for schools B and C since they have score choice as an option. what happens with my common application section where we self report? how do I show one school all the scores and the other schools just the best of my scores?

It’s a moot point. Georgetown is the only college that requires all SAT Subject test scores, and they don’t use the Common App. So don’t list the 710 on the Common App.

@Dungareedoll — you just edit the CA before submitting it. So…if you file School B first, omit the scores you do not want to report, then before filing School A, add the scores that must be reported, then omit the scores again before filing School C.

I will admit that I have not looked at the CA in two years, so I suppose they may have changed it in the interim.

I didn’t realize that Georgetown was the only school that required reporting of all subject test scores, but I haven’t looked at the policies in two years.

Oh ok…thanks so much everyone. I appreciate it!

@bigfandave of course there is no audit trail…but it comes down to honesty and integrity

So I’ve just sent my son’s SAT scores to several colleges, and chose All Scores, but the invoice says “…will receive SOME of your scores”. I guess it’s because he was automatically signed up for in-school test but opted out because he already had a high score. But do the colleges see that only “some of the scores” were sent or is it just on the invoice? I’m not sure any of them actually require all scores, but it would be nice if they knew he had high scores on the first try.

If you did not exercise score choice then all scores should have been sent other than those taken in eighth grade or before. I am not sure what is meant by the “some scores” reference since all scores should be sent including any state-only administered tests taken at the school. It is perhaps just CB’s normal message when you send anything but you might want to contact CB to make sure it did not interpret your order as excluding one or more scores. In any event, the receipt you received is not something provided to the colleges.

He didn’t take tests at school, so there are no scores, but the test date still shows up on his CB record.

CB never sends anything concerning a test one did not actually take. If one is registered for a test and fails to take it, CB automatically cancels that test. Score reports sent to colleges provide information only on tests actually scored. But that still leaves some confusion concerning the “some of the scores” comment which implies there is actually a test taken and scored that is not being sent, so you may still want to get clarification from CB.

I have a quick question. I’m planning on applying to the UC schools. I have 1 SAT score and 1 ACT score. Am I required to send both, or can I choose to only send ACT and omit sending the SAT? (The SAT score is not very good)

Additionally, can I choose to not send subject test scores to UC schools?

^The UC’s all scores rule applicable to SAT applies if you choose to submit an SAT, and you can choose to submit just ACT. Moreover, the all scores rule is inapplicable to subject tests and you can send any subject tests you want to send or none.

@drusba Just so you know I have made numerous calls to the UC admissions line and been told on some occasions that you are required to submit ALL scores from either the SAT or ACT. Most of the calls I have made - recorded by UC - the person tells me to send in the highest score because they do not superscore. But I had a woman - I called again - who was adamant (even took me to the website) and said UCs require ALL acts or ALL SATs. I know there has been confusion bc the UC website seems to read that the “all” is only applicable to the SATs, but most believe that it is for ALL Acts too.

Can one use Score Choice when the colleges consider “Highest Section Scores Across Test Dates”?

“In the College Board’s Score Choice module, ensure that all scores are sent to UC. We require all scores and will use the highest scores from a single administration.”

@RedMan108 in general, follow the directions of the college/uni you are applying to. Some allow Score Choice, others don’t, even when they do the superscoring for you.
