My Bucknell Visit

So, this winter I visited Bucknell along with Dickinson, F&M, and Gettysburg College. I will also review those in their respective forums. I’m a sophomore in HS, but we don’t visit Pennsylvania much so even though it’s a little early, we visited these 4 great schools.

So I came to Bucknell college and I noticed how much larger it is then the three other schools I visited. The campus is really nice, and there is plenty of plants and grass between the buildings.

They have a great athletic facility. I’m interested in swimming so their pool was phenominal but also the workout areas are very nice. They had a good idea to have two differant facilities, one for the general student body and one for athletes. This is clever because athletes often hog the workout machines.

If you don’t want to have to workout, try going up the quad route. It’s very prett, but climbing uphill for about a fourth of a mile just to get to the admissions was tiring!

Once we finally got to the admissions building, I thought the receptionist was very nice. I know, it’s not that big of a deal, but I thought she was very nice.
Also a chemistry professor walked by and introduced herself.

In the office, there were individual flyers for differant majors. I was shocked about how many different majors there are. The benefit of having a larger liberal arts school is more options.

My dad had taught there for a couple years, and he has mixed feelings about
Bucknell. The good things he says are that the students there tend to be bright, and it’s a very good education. It has a good reputation, and is probably the most well heard of out of the 4 I visited. I know that it may not sound very important; but when I was talking to a couple of my friends, they had heard about Bucknell and Dickinson, which samples the reputation of both.

However, there is a lot of drinking at that school; especially in the frats. But honestly, students will drink anywhere they go, so it shouldn’t deter you. But
parents, maybe if you’re sending your kid off to bucknell maybe you should explain REALISTIC expectations or maybe teach your children how to responsibly drink.

My dad also said there is a series of underground tunnels that sometimes students explore. That sounds interesting although I doubt they are still up. And their library is very pretty!

Any questions or comments? I’d love to know I didn’t spend all this time typing for no good reason.

i enjoyed your informative post and i see that many others read it as well. thank you

I recently visited Bucknell University and think that your comments are right on target. I do, however, wish that you had commented on the other three colleges in the same post rather than on different threads.

Thanks, oh and if I put them all together they would exceed the post number limits.
