So I mailed in my Cal Grant form 2 weeks before the deadline. I received my financial aid award letters from the universities i got into a couple of weeks ago. My Cal Grant did not show on the award letters. i assume it has been lost in the mail. Therefore I mailed the Late Cal Grant GPA Verification form Friday morning. I also had to mail in a letter explaining why my Cal Grant form is being mailed in late. Basically I said that my Cal Grant must have been lost in the mail because my schools never received it. If I don't get the Cal Grant I'm most likely going have to keep going to CC for one more year. I really cannot afford transferring this year without the Cal Grant. I'm so worried about this.

My question is how likely am I to still receive the Cal Grant? It being lost in the mail is not my fault. Unfortunately I do not have any proof that I mailed it on time. :(

Always keep back up copies of your documentation and when you go to mail it, there is something called a “certificate of mailing”; pay the $2 and get it so you have proof you mailed it.
Did you track your cal grant status on the webgrants for Students page? Call the Cal grant office near beginning of May if you don’t hear anything.

You’re going to need to wait to hear the outcome of your appeal. I’m sure it happens all the time . . . but I’ve no clue how they’ll deal with it.

Schools do not always get the information in time for the award letters. Did you check your account on CSAC’s website before mailing your late submission appeal? CSAC is the entity that matters the most in receiving Cal Grant, not the schools themselves.
