I'm also applying for a NROTC Scholarship and a AFROTC scholarship here.

iam actually pretty sure they do superscore. when you apply there will have an admissions page that will have all your information and it will show your test scores. for me it showed my highest english and math from two different test. so make sure you send both act test. it also depends what you are applying for. engineering and architecture are harder to get into

They do superscore! On top of that they will select the best score between ACT and SAT. I.E. if your ACT score is better than your SAT when they translate it, they will take your ACT.

1240 is on the low end, but you are OOS, so that is a different story.

As an AFROTC scholarship Mom, I would say with the gpa and the SAT you need to refine your stats. Go to [United States of America Service Academy Forums - Powered by vBulletin](http://www.serviceacademyforums.com) and pose your chances under the ROTC forum (under DODMERB). Additionally, remember/realize that NROTC is not like AFROTC, scholarships for Navy are tied to the det, it is not that way for the AF. Tech is only 1 of 7 in the nation that has a corp within the university.

It makes a lot of sense that they do so, considering that they want/need to raise their stats to get on UVa’s level (level in terms of stats, not ability).

It’s usually only the very very top schools that don’t superscore - with so many qualified applicants they need something extra to distinguish differences.

You are right about UVA and Elite schools. Remember, UVA is the #2 public university in the nation for selection according to USNWR…but who wants to go to a college where you are expected to wear a suit for football games? ;)

when they recalculate ACT scores, do they get a new composite score from your best sections or is it the best composite score is the final composite score?

Yes they recalculate the ACT score, that is why it is called superscoring. If you get a 30 on M and a 28 on V, but the next time you get a 28 on M and a 30 on V, they will say you have 30 on both.

They do not look at just the composite, it is all 4 components that get superscored. Same with SATs.
