My chance of getting to CSE

<p>I am a senior living in St Paul neighborhood and I am applying to U of M TC next year.
Here is my stat:</p>

<p>Background:
Vietnamese immigrant (came in Oct 2010)
Low-income family </p>

<p>Academic:
GPA: 3.98 uw ; 4.3 w
Class rank: Top 5% of my class
ACT: 30
AP: Physic C, Bio, Environmental, Cal AB, Gov,Macro economy this year
5 on AP Chem, 4 APUSH, 3 AP Human Geo (never studied in this class)</p>

<p>ECs:
Captain of my Robotics Team, President of NHS, Math Team,Private E-2 in National Guard
(just got back from Basic Training), Lifeguard, College Possible, Marine Corps JROTC. Internship for 3M STEP.
A bunch of volunteer hours from JROTC + NHS +300 hours</p>

<p>Awarda: Student of the Month, A Honor with Distinction for 3 years, Academic Letter and Bar, Outstanding in Social Studies, AP Chem award, Navy League of America Medal Winner, AP Scholar.</p>

<p>I also applied PSEO at the U and get accepted but I was doing BCT during the summer so I deferred the admission. :)</p>

<p>Your ACT is a little on the low side for CSE, but overall I think you are a competitive applicant. Have you taken the ACT more than once / tried the SAT?</p>

That was my second ACT and I never take the SAT. I applied with my Golden Gopher Application so I am currently waiting for the early admission.</p>

<p>You should easily get in because of your family background, extracurricular activities, and average ACT score.</p>

<p>I think you will get in as well. The average ACT score for CSE for the 2013 admitted Freshman class is a 31, but a 30 is still an excellent score. Your GPA and class rank are very good, so I definitely think you will get in. I would be very surprised if you didn’t. Good luck!</p>
