My chances as a female in engineering?

Hi, I am a current senior in high school. SAT is 1440; math 690, english 750. ACT 32; reading 36, english 26, math 32, science 32. I’ve taken SATII and got 690,580,570. My school’s gpa system is very weird. Mine is a 4.3966 while the valedictorian’s is 4.6989. I am 22 out of 222. Taken only honors, AP, and dual enrollment. I think I have pretty good extracurriculars. I’ve been in a stem based program all of high school and have my own engineering project this year. I’m not sure what area of engineering I’m committed to as of yet, but definitely engineering. I’m applying RD to Tulane, Georgia Tech, Northeastern, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Brown, UConn, and my number one is Tufts, Are there any other schools I should be considering like Tufts but easier to get into? and am I aiming to high or do I have good chances with these schools?

As a female in engineering you have a chance to get into all the schools, albeit Brown, Northwestern, GT, and Vandy are still going to be very tough to get into. I think you will get accepted to at least two of the above. Don’t bother sending the SAT 2 scores in unless required they are well below the average for those schools. My guess is you’ll be accepted to NE, Tulane, and UConn. The rest are maybes.

@CU123 thank you so much for replying. I figured as much. For Tufts I’m going to just send my ACT score rather than sat and sat II. Was kicking around the idea of applying ED2 as well for Tufts.

Look at the stats for admission for EA (including ED). Seems like EA rate is 29% vs 13% RD.

Yeah, I don’t think you have a good chance at the top 4 schools mentioned. I would not send the SAT IIs. The class rank and test scores are good, but not the level for Ivies and such. Good luck though.

Northwestern is still a reach due to weak test scores, particularly in Math sections.

Tulane is a very good school, but their engineering program is small and not as strong as some of the other schools you have listed.

You are applying to very competitive schools, and they are reaches for everyone regardless of gender. Be sure to include more target and reach schools. You don’t mention budget but if merit aid is a consideration definitely expand your list.

Like Tufts but easier to get into? Maybe URochester?
