My chances at UC's

Hello, Im back again, wondering if theres any chance I can get into either UCR or UCI with a 27 ACT score and a 3.89 10-11 GPA. My top school is SDSU but now I’m not even sure they superscore the ACT either, which I would have a 28 if they do. Do they superscore?

You have posted in the SDSU. I going to ask @vonlost to move it to the University of California, General forum

In the meantime, I will post some UC statistical data to help gauge your chances.

UC’s do not superscore. They take the highest overall score from a single sitting.

Intended major for the UC’s since they do not offer Kinesiology (based on your SDSU post)?

With your GPA and test scores, UC Santa Cruz, UC Riverside and UC Merced would be your target schools. Your GPA is below the 25th percentile for the rest of the UC’s including UCI.

2018 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19 capped weighted and not major specific:
UCSB: 38%
UCD: 41%
UCI: 38%
UCSC: 70%
UCR: 84%
UCM: 95%

2019 UC capped weighted GPA averages along with 25th-75th percentile range:
UCSB: 4.16 (4.04-4.28)
UCI: 4.13 (4.00-4.25)
UCD: 4.13 (4.00-4.26)
UCSC: 3.96 (3.76-4.16)
UCR: 3.90 (3.69-4.11)
UCM: 3.73 (3.45-4.00)

25th - 75th percentiles for ACT composite + language arts
UCSB: 26-34
UCD: 24-33
UCI: 24-34
UCSC: 24-32
UCR: 21-30
UCM: 18-26

So based on the UC statistical data, UCR would be a possible Match school and UCI would be a Reach school. Just remember that PT school is expensive and the UC’s would be around $10-12K/year more than the CSU’s depending upon FA.

Best of luck.

@aalliciaaa . . . I don’t think there are effectively any colleges that superscore (“ss”) the ACT. Effectively all the privates ss the SAT, but, again, none ss the ACT. I think the reasoning is that there’s not enough value to take an average of best scores regardless of sitting. A one point differential in ACT by roundoff is ~ 30-40 SAT points. I’m going to say your grades and scores, stats, look good. All the best.
