*Nothing really too impressive.

I've also held a job at my parent's salon for 4 years, working on average 30 hours per week.

I hope to get 2 solid teacher recommendations.

Other (hopefully I don't come off as strange): I'm in-state. My older brother/cousins all attended and graduated from UMich. Asian (Vietnamese). Female. Lower-Class. Parents are immigrants. Dad only completed high school, mom only completed elementary (both overseas). My essay will probably end up as a tear-jerker about working in a stereotypical Asian nail salon in the ghetto (special, right? hah)... and how it came to show me work ethic and respect for my parents and a career in general.

Any other college in the Mid-west I should consider applying to? I'm interested in majoring in Biochemistry/Pre-med/Business.
Thanks for any input you all can give, much appreciated.

Bump… hoping for replies.

You should have no problem getting into Michigan state. You’ve got a good chance at U Michigan too, but
you’ll need good essays and recommendations.

Does MSU require an essay?

Yes, they require a personal statement (around 400 words). You can select from 2 topics.

Adiavoy, I think you have a great chance to get into UM. I know many students who got in who have similar class loads and GPA’s, ACT’s, etc. Don’t worry so much. :)

tOSU. Is good
