My Chances At UT Austin?

Hi there! I just wanted to find out from current students or students who have been accepted to the University of Texas at Austin think my chances of being accepted as a nursing major is. I’ve been really worried about it recently so…
-Rank:13/378 (top 3%)
-UW GPA: about 3.8
-Weighted GPA: 4.15 on a 5pt scale or 108.5 on a 100 pt scale
-SAT: 1110 with a 530 in math and a 580 in English and reading (havent received essay score yet)
-I’ve been in PAP and AP classes since freshman year and I’m taking the APUSH and English Lang and Comp AP exams this year
-I’ve been in band since sixth grade and made it to state solo and ensemble this year
-I’ve been in colorguard since eighth grade and am an officer this year
-I’ve played softball since I was 7 and for the school since freshman year and made varsity this year
-I have like 6-15 service hour and I have never had a job but I plan to volunteer A LOT this summer at a hospital

Like I said I’m not really worried about my admittance to the university itself I’m more worried about my chances for the nursing school so if anyone can give me good, true insights it would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Repost from Texas colleges

Actually I got a 4 on all components of my essay

Your SAT scores are rather low. If you improve 200+ points (100+ points in each section) then I’d say you have a fair chance to get in nursing major.

UT Nursing is looking for students who truly have a servant’s heart for the job. I encourage you to find ECs that demonstrate that commitment. Do you know any current UT Nursing students? Reach out to them and see what activities they participated in during high school. Maybe contact the School of Nursing to see what they are looking for in successful candidates. Good luck!

If you graduate in the top 7%, you’re automatically admitted to the university. Nursing is selective and competitive, so apply early. Don’t let UT’s selectivity discourage you. There are a lot of great nursing programs in Texas…Texas A&M, UT-Southwestern, U of H, UTHSCSA, and Texas Tech are all top programs.
