My chances entering into an Ivy League?

I’m not like super smart or anything, just to put it out there, but. Since I’m going into Junior year next year, I want to know that what my chances are to enter into an Ivy League. I never imagine myself to get into an Ivy but I still want to apply and see if I can get in during my senior year. I’ve always wanted to go to University of Pennsylvania, Brown or Stanford.

SAT/ACT: haven’t taken those yet.

I’m Asian. Bilingual (English and mandarin) just to put it out there. My mum never went to college. My father went to college in China.

YES. I do sense that I’m doing a lot of AP classes next year but I have very good time management. Plus, I don’t do sports lol. I get tired very easily, really not athletic and not really a huge fan of sports. Plus I’ll do my SAT/ACT studying during the summer. As you can see, I don’t have much… LIKEZZ those major accomplishments such as national swimming award, stuff like that.

I would say I’m pretty average. I’m not super smart like others. I mean I’m not bad either lol. Haha. So yeah I would like to hear from you guys what you guys think my chances of getting into an Ivy League is. I don’t have super high expectations for myself but it wouldn’t hurt to apply. I would just like some advice. Don’t roast my life plzzz.

Did you take the PSAT test yet? Or the ACT? You have a heavy load of AP courses scheduled, but only you know if you can handle that.

Without an SAT/ACT who knows. You have a lot of club involvement with leadership, but nothing that stands out.
Keep your academics on track, and try to find an EC that fits your passions and that isn’t just generic-club-number-5-officer or something

You have a TON of club involvement, but where are your passions?? It’s not worth being in a million clubs if you aren’t really passionate about them. It’s better to have one passion (ex: dance, acting, volunteering) and writing about that in your essays in order to make you stand out as a candidate. Colleges go through tons of applications of people with generic clubs and stuff but nothing that really stands out and makes them a unique person to accept into their school. That’s where you are right now. Find a passion, stick with it, and use it to make you a great candidate. Good luck!

I think everyone else has mostly covered it but to have a good shot at the Ivies (fyi, Stanford is not an Ivy) then you need to have a hook which is normally some kind of national or international award. It’s hard to make a judgement without an SAT or ACT score, however.

Awards are great but they aren’t hooks. Athlete, legacy, URM are hooks.

Test prep this summer, take the SAT and ACT first test dates in the fall.
No, you’re not just a number, but there is a range you have to be in. You need the data to really know your chances.

Do you have a major in mind?

@Sportsman88 I disagree. While being a legacy or URM is great, they won’t make you an instant admit. A hook is something like being nationally ranked in the Science Olympiad, being part of a basketball team that competes internationally or designing a phone app ranked in the top 100 on the app store ect.
They are the kind of things that overshadow everything else on your application.

I didn’t say that being legacy, etc. was guaranteed admit but it meets the definition of a hook. What you are describing is a great EC or accomplishment. Of course I would argue they aren’t guaranteed admit either. Now a hook like being daughter of a president, billionaire, etc, now that is guaranteed admit if stats are in line with at least 25 percentile.
