My Chances For These Schools?

Hi!

I’m applying for Phillips Exeter, Milton Academy, Noble and Greenough, and Roxbury Latin, and I was wondering if you would mind letting me know of my chances.

I’ve been so tense for the last few days, March 10 takes so long!

My grades have been mostly A’s (highest grade possible at school). I had 4 A-'s in grade 6, 2 A-'s in 7th, and 1 A- and 1 B+ in 8th.

My ISEE was 72% overall (raw scores were all close to 900)

My interviews for all these schools were amazing. In fact, at Exeter the interviewer told me I’d be a great fit to the school.

EC’s

Ice Hockey - 9 years for the best organization in New England (I’ve sent an email to Mr. Barbin already)

I’m Chinese, from Massachusetts (woohoo), and I am applying for FA.

I really want to go here, so we’ll hope for the best! What do you think?

Obviously you are tremendous candidate academically and musically. Maybe you could tell us more about your hockey credentials so we can better understand how attractive you will be to the hockey programs. Where else have you played besides Walpole express and at what level?

@Center Thanks so much for the reply! Pretty much what’s listed is what the school knows. However, during the interview I mentioned the fact that I play for Express to my interviewers, and they were all basically sold that I’m a pretty good player.

I don’t play for the highest teams for my age, but I never specified exactly what team I played for on my application. Since many of the schools I’m applying for are also in the Boston-area, they know what club I’m referencing to.

Center, my only concern is my ISEE score. Do you think they’re low?

I don’t know the answer. I am confused as to how you have 72% but 900? I thought it was out of 950 or so. So yes I believe if your overall percentile is 72%, that may be a bit low but your grades and ECs are certainly compelling.

Are you hoping to play hockey in prep school and/or are you hoping it will help you get in?

@Center Hello! The ISEE has a range from 740-950 per section. I got near a 900 for most of those sections. That is about 72%.

I am hoping to play hockey in prep school. I think all of my ECs are helping to make me get in. My current public school doesn’t have a hockey team (hence the reason the schools I have considered all have hockey teams).

Yes that’s what I thought. I guess the numbers just make it 72%. I would say that hockey will not help you get in unless you are on the coaches support list. Doesn’t mean you won’t be able to play JV. Your grades and music are probably all you need.

@rulerMA – my understanding of RL and Nobles is that the scores would have to be much higher. I don’t know about the BS.
