my chances of getting in

I figured this would be a good place to put this since its a strictly UCI question. I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what chances i have to being accepted as a transfer student. major is business administration, my transferable GPA is a 3.1,UC transferable GPA is a 3.3, overall GPA is a 3.0, major GPA is 3.5, not sure if that matters. the only major classes i will not have done before im ready to transfer is calc 1 and 2. if anyone could tell me my chances, or tell me what their stats were when they got accepted that would be great, thanks. I am also joining the honors program, not sure how much that helps.

Not to be a downer but your chances of getting into UCI for Business Admin is close to 0.

Not having Calc 1+2 done when you apply will get you rejected from Econ/Business Econ not to mention Business Admin which is a much more competitive major.

Average gpa of people accepted this year was all in the upper tier 3.8+ and having all pre-reqs completed.

I thought they don’t accept you if you don’t even have the pre-reqs done.

But as the above poster said, your GPA is not on par with the average applicant for Business Administration.

Ahh ok thanks. well atleast i know now.

if you want to go into business, econ, business econ and quantitative economics are generally considered stronger degrees. Biz admin is solid for many positions, but for top positions, critical thinkers are desired. Depends on the program though. Top bSchools are desired regardless. UCI’s bschool is 35th in the nation and rising. Do econ, and use every resource you can. As it stands, employers will ultimately care more about past experience than the specific majors. A few words on a bachelor’s degreeultimately won’t make/break someone from getting a promotion.

Business Administration and Business Econ are different though… I’m currently in business econ and I don’t like the amount of mathematics required in it (and i’m good at math). Yes, it may be a better degree to have, but a lot of the people in it at UCI are not happy with the classes they are taking / didn’t realize it’d be so much math.
So… I would advise someone to not take business econ unless they knew what they were getting themselves into and/or actually enjoyed it.

ehh I’d always heard econ wasn’t THAT much math. Bit of basic integration here and there but the test of skill was knowing the econ concepts and being able to properly apply them moreso than being capable of the calculus.

I’m a Quantitative Economics major though, so I’m basically screwed regardless and will quite possibly end up double majoring in math(or at least minoring)

I was wondering if someone could link me to where i could find out the acceptance by GPA and major. something like this [Profile of Admitted Transfer Students, Fall 2009 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof09.htm)

thank you.

[University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu/library/tables/table_50-2009.aspx)

it gives ranges.

also if you go to the custom tables, you’ll see that the majority of those getting rejected from mid tiered and lower tiered UCs were ineligible.

basically 3.3GPA + IGETC + prereqs complete = IN.
this is for any major OTHER than business. for business it’s more like all prereqs completed, business related extracurriculars, 3.8+GPA and you’re in the running to get in.

thank you!
