Hey everyone I was wondering If anyone could help me. Im currently a senior in Texas and I have my mind set on baylor univ. and UT austin. The problem facing me is freshman & sophmore year, I slacked off. But jr year i was dilligent enough to bring my 2.8gpa to a 3.1gpa (4.0scale). Not only that, I have volunteered at the hospital for 50hours over summer, attended national youth leadership forum on medicine, got 3rd place for the public health symposium award, got invited to attend the natl. young leaders confrence in washington DC. Not only that, Iam now doing medical research with reknown doctorms from the nation. So you can see now Im quite active and realized that I should have worked harder earlier. As for talents, I have been playing piano since I was 4 and tennis since i was 11. As well, i have been singing for 6years and made region. I can go on about awards and that stuff. As far as EC, now im taking challenging and rigorous courses and basically challenging myself. But what i want to know is do I have a chance of getting into a good college. Like I know im dedicated and Im up for college and want to make a difference once I enter the medical field. Can anyone please help me? Im already stressed enough out of this.

Does your school have a counselor that can help you figure out what schools might fit your needs and accept a student with your experiences? You might like to check out, "Colleges that Change Lives," or other similar books. It is best to have a range of schools to apply to rather than getting your heart set on one or two schools.

One approach that has worked for many folks is to go to a in-state school or community college for two years & transferring thereafter to a school they prefer. CA recommends their residents follow this approach.
Good luck.
