My chances on getting into Cockrell for Petroleum or Chemical

I am interested in getting feedback on my chances for getting into Petroleum or Chemical Engineering at UT Cockrell. In state. My class rank is 31/809. ACT 33 composite with Math 35, English 33, Reading 31 and Science 32. Writing/English composite was 30. Un-weighted GPA is 4.0. All Honors or AP classes for all core subjects. EC limited to soccer and Young Life. Four year starter on Varsity soccer. Defensive team captain junior and senior years. Defensive MVP freshman year. All district awards all years. Additionally play club soccer in Elite Clubs National League. 15 -18 hour/week commitment 10 months per year. Worked hard on my essays and submitted all three.

I am currently a freshman petroleum engineering major at UT. I would say you have good chances considering what your test scores are compared to mine.

@dannihunni are you liking everything so far? Being optimistic any advice you have on the admissions process post acceptance? Hearing anything on Pet E applications for fall 2016 given current oil prices?

I don’t know much about the admissions process or the prospects for the Pet E applicants, but I did hear that the Pet E 2019 class size did decrease compared to the previous year due to the oil prices. Advice post acceptance: get a summer internship and enjoy the rest of your high school experience! Internship experience is arguably the most important factor in succeeding and landing a job in the future, as I believe my past high school internship was what balanced out my test performances (ACT: 28/SAT: 1850).
