I have a 3.9 UF weighted GPA, with a 29 ACT and 2150 SATs, with about 8 AP courses and 7 honors courses. I'm light on ECs because I had to work, but had many positive letters of rec from my employers. I'm also National Honors, Spanish Honors. I also indicated on my application that I was interested in the Innovation Academy, so I'd like any impressions anyone has into that program as well. Thanks for any insight.

Hopefully some current students can give you more insight into Innovation Academy.

You’re a match to high match to UF, while getting into IA is a bit easier(less competitive), so more of a match. Your GPA is a bit low (middle 50% of admitted freshman had a weighted GPA of 4.1 to 4.4). GPA is the most important academic factor (with class rigor), but your Test scores may help to counter that (middle 50% SAT 1810-2060 and ACT 27-31).

UF views work like an EC, but they don’t accept letters of recommendations as part of your application. With UF’s holistic admissions, more EC’s would help (did you do any volunteer work, to help qualify for Bright Futures, if you’re in-state), but once again, IA is a bit less competitive.

Other factors that play a role, include your essay (it really matters at UF), being a first generation (from your family) college student, and Geographical residence (if your in-state, UF likes to enroll students from across the state).

Good Luck and GO GATORS!

I’m OOS. I did put several ECs on my resume, and qualified for National Honor Society. Thanks for the insight.
