In-state junior, 1600 SAT (on 1600 scale) (math/verbal) 2380 total, approx 3.7 UF weighted gpa. 2 APs (planning on taking more online during senior year)
decent ECs...early admission to community college next year where I will be taking honors classes--this is what kinda worries me on how they will look at that.

any input?? thank you.

Um, I'd say your an auto in with those SAT scores. You had two AP's which shows that you can handle harder stuff, and that you might be opting for community college for a reason other than getting easier college credit. UF doesn't really seem to care about EC's... But if you take college classes that ups your GPA a whole lot, not to mention those online AP courses, it will all go on UF's different GPA system they use to calculate to determine what they see your GPA as. It should be higher unless you had a whole bunch of A's in non-academics. Actually, if it goes up even to a 3.8, I wouldn't doubt you getting into their honors college there. I think the mid-range for that was 3.8-4.3, and your SAT scores are obviously off the charts so no worries there.

But seriously, from what I've seen and heard, UF is only concerned with GPA and test scores, not so much with your EC's (they don't neglect them completely, but they don't give them near as much value as good private colleges).

Oh, wait, I see you already are showing your UF GPA, well it will go up if you keep all A's first term next year, make sure you do so you can gain admittance into their honors college! UF is a really nice school, so best of luck to you!

Oh, ok.. I wasn't too sure how much weight they placed on my SAT scores, because of my mediocre gpa and not so impressive schedule.

If you are NMF it will positively influence your admission chances to UF. UF admissions are very quirky. I disagree with what erhswimming said completely...the EC's are very important to UF. The competition this year is fierce at all the colleges...UF is no different. Bright Futures and reasonable instate tuition coupled with the increased national competition for the top schools have kept many bright and talented Florida students instate. Many of my daughter's friends were waitlisted at 4 plus Ivy's and are now planning on attending UF. UF can afford to be very very selective now with its admissions. Many kids with stellar SAT's and GPA's were deferred or rejected from our local schools this year because of these factors. I have read that it will get worse before it gets better. If you really want an acceptance letter from UF:
1) Apply in the first round and make sure all your materials are sent/received before the "dead" line.
2) Put real time and effort into those essays...UF does care. The kids who "blew off" their applications, regardless of stats, did not get in!
3) Do well from now on academically. Try to Ace your finals this year and bump your GPA. UF will not see your senior year grades until after they have decided to accept/deny you. They cannot and do not look at midyears.

Remember to treat each and every college application like it is your first choice school, otherwise you are wasting your time and money.
Good Luck

since you're only a junior you might not know if you're a nmf yet, but if you are that is one of the few things which UF gives as an "automatic" admit, barring any other glarring problems with your application.

Reguardless though, you're in.

yeah unfortunately I had an off day on PSAT day and probably won't qualify for nmf...I was in 92 percentile but I know It has to be higher

no, that's not high enough, it's the top .5% I think.

But I still think you're in with that SAT.

I feel your pain of the PSAT off day. I was in the 97th percentile. so close, yet so far. lol and unfortunately at UF it really makes a difference.

I am co-valedictorian at my school. the girl i'm tied with is almost my exact equal-very similar EC's, jobs, etc. The only thing she has above me is that shes a NMF. Therefore, I got no scholarships from UF, just 1 $500 dollar need based grant and a lot of loans. She on the other hand is basically going free.

tis a sad sad fate.
