My chances to get in UW PLEASE!!!

I started to go to school in America in sophomore year, 10th grade
i took all regular and honors alg2/trig on 10th grade
all honors and one ap on 11th grade
and 5ap and one orchestra on 12th grade

my gpa is 3.8765

but my sat is really low

reading : 470
math : 720

writing : 530

1720

and im in state
have pretty many extracurricular,
and my mom is an uw alumni so do as my uncle, aunt,

my chance?

im really worried because this year, cause of economy
i don't think uw would accept as many students as they did before
plus, they don't even accept transfer students ... so yeah..

The UW does accept transfer students, I transferred in.
i guess you were referring to international transfers?

Anyway, you'll easily get in to the UW. Congrats!

Your sat reading is abysmal.

I am a citizen of U.S and I am applying as freshman.

yeah.. my sat score is my biggest thing that I am worried..
especially reading which all the colleges mainly consider.

i don't know if UW doesn't really look at the SAT2
but I got 750 on SAT2 and 800 on Korean

Before sophomore year, where did you go to school? This may be a factor in your SAT scores, especially with reading and writing.

mangoyam, what did you get on your SAT essay? The essay score is really important because UW has found a strong connection between college success and high SAT essay scores.

Also UW doesn't look @ alumni relationships.

The way I'm thinking about the SAT score thing is that if mangoyam was educated primarily outside of an English-speaking country, this will be taken into account by the admissions council. If this is true (the whole non-English-speaking country thing), then I have to say that the reading and writing scores are actually quite good, all things considered.

Also, could I have a source on the essay thing, seattlestudent? I've never seen that one before and I'd like to read the article in which it was published. It's kind of surprising to me, considering not even the Ivy league schools are considering the SAT writing section scores -- there have been cases of really subjective grading.

UW is accustomed to dealing with international students (especially asian?) and will be able to work with the SAT issue. I think you are pretty much in.

I was born in California but lived in Korea when I was 5 till 9th grade
so Its been 2 and half years that I 've been going to school in America
so,, that might be a reason why my reading sat score is low..</p>

and I got 8 on the essay everytime I took SAT

and I took SAT three times,
the score That I wrote above is my best score
but I raised my score by 100 everytime I took.

I also have a question about the major
I chose Industrial design as first choice and business as second choice.
both of majors had two stars next to it (on the list)

does it affect?

Because you went to school in Korea for the majority of your education, I wouldn't worry too much about your reading and writing scores on the SAT. UW will take those into consideration, and I think they're really good scores considering the circumstances.

I'm not too sure about the whole two stars by the major thing, though.

thank you for the reply :)
I hope I can get in...
sooon.. i cant wait till march!!

anyone else, feedback to my stats and chance :/ ?

Ceetie bee, there was an article in either the seattle times or the new york times about a year ago there was a joint study between UW and possibly dartmouth, but i could be wrong on the other school. Also both my parents said this and they are professors @ UW.

Ah. That's really interesting, actually. Maybe I should've retaken the SAT to up my essay... meh. I'm already in, so there would've been no point, I guess.
