Hi there! So, I am extremely nervous about getting into UMBC, especially because I just received a rejection letter from UMD and UMBC is my last shot at an in-state college that will please my parents (they don't want me going anywhere else and they keep on telling me how disapointed they are in me, which stinks to say the least).

My stats are pretty good, except for my SAT score, which is always the most important. I'm just not good at the SATs, no matter how hard I study for them (and I studied SO much for them).

Anyway, here are my stats:
G.P.A. (unweighted): 3.8
G.P.A. (weighted): 4.73
SATs (combined): 1870
Math- 570
Critical Reading- 560
Writing- 740
5 AP classes and the rest are Honors and G/T (which is a program at my county that is more challenging than Honors classes and a tad bit less than AP. It falls write in the middle).
My college essay was pretty good, I had my AP English teacher review it and edit it, so I'm not worried about that.

What really bites is that my writing score is the what I'm the most proud of and I'm worried they won't even look at it. I'm applying Regular Decision too, because of a mix up earlier in the year which left me missing the Early Decision deadline (which I will be forever regretful of).

UMBC does look at your writing score, this I know. UMD, on the other hand, does not at all, which may explain my rejection. I spoke with my counselor, provided her with all these facts, and she said I should be fine. However, my nerves are killing me and I REALLY want to get in. If I could, I would get down on my knees and beg. My situation is somewhat depressing.

So, what do you think? Honest opinion: Will I get into UMBC Fall 2011 with my statistics (specifically, my SAT scores)? OH, and how much will my writing scores impact their overall view on my SAT score?
