ok so i know i have low grades (very)
and i was wondering would i not even have a shot of getting into tisch because of them ? and if i did how would i pay for NYU

gpa-2.8
ACT-21 ( if i could get a better ACT score would that help ?)
i also plan on taking two SAT subject tests french and spanish
im a senior
i played tennis for 2 years
and did drama club for 3
i only have 27 community service hours
(im also black if that counts for anything )
i have taken AP courses since 10th grade
i have also taken 2 languages for my last 2 years and have done well in both

also what other schools would be good for Acting ?

Is that true? I thought that no matter how amazing your were at your audition, if your grades weren't good then they wouldn't accept you. No exceptions.

i'm pretty sure there are exceptions to EVERY rule...

audition anyways. it's not going to hurt you at all, and if anything it will just give you more audition experience..right?

i'm in a similar boat as you (a lot of sickness through my high school career), and i mean...you have to remember that if you don't get in, you can always transfer in.

I'm in a similar boat as you, though I'm transfering in.

I had about a 3.18 GPA in high school
Recieved a 3 on my AP English Lit. Test
Had a bad SAT score: 1060
We had mandatory community service (went to a Catholic school)
And only a few ECs

My first year of college I got a 3.33 GPA
A's in all my arts classes, B's in the others, one C in science
All music/theater ECs

But then I transfered to a new college then left mid-semester and got a WF on all of my classes because of it. It says they count as an F...though since it's a WF, with transfer...I don't know how that will really effect me. I made sure to explain in my application essays why I had such a horrible record at the second school.

So right now, I don't really know if I'll get in or not...despite the audition. But I figured, what the heck, and decided to apply anyway just to see what would happen.

BIS
Don't know the circumstances that led to your withdrawal. If personal/medica problems can be documented, you may meet the school's criteria for medical withdrawal (that could erase the F part of the WF). Just a shot in the dark, but thot I'd mention it. Good luck.

Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you look at it) my reasons for leaving weren't medical. Frankly I just hated the school, the entire social atmosphere was not comfortable, it was THE epitome of a party school if there ever was one and I was literally depressed being there. I was trying to stick it out until at least the end of the semester, but my grades weren't up to par and I just couldn't take it anymore so I left. I wish I would have gotten out of there when I initially wanted to, then I would have had a "W" on my transcript and not have to worry about this one mistake keeping me out of every school I apply to. I've explained this in all of my college essays and I'm hoping when they see my grades and transcripts from high school and my other college that they see that this situation is very unique and not something at all common in my academic career. I'm hoping the subject comes up in the interviews (I'm thinking it probably will at most of my schools) so that then I can explain the situation to them even more fully.
