My Chances...?

Hey guys,

I'm a 16 year old junior who really wants to go to Rice. Can you tell me my chances?

SAT: 2370
PSAT: 235
SAT IIs: 770 Biology, Others not taken
Probably rank #1 or 2 in my class (we don't know till senior year)
Take all AP and honors classes
Treasurer of National Honor Society, President of Key Club
Really would like to pursue a medical career for the love of biology

GPA 5.00 on a 4.00 scale

Thank you!

i thought you already got in?

"Can you tell me my chances?" NO.

No one here can tell you whether you'll get in or not. Your stats are excellent, and they put you solidly within the range of admitted students. Your extracurriculars are lacking, although the officer positions are good. Let your personality show through your essays, as this will help Rice get a better idea of who you are and will distinguish your application. If Rice is where you really want to go, apply ED (but make sure you are completely committed to Rice and financial aid is not an issue). Good luck.

raidersrice: You're thinking of a different 16 year old on CC (who has already been admitted to Rice).

Well, I'm also in Spanish Honor Society and Science National Honor Society.

I was named President for the 07-08 year of Math Club.

More Stats:
Asian, Female, live with 2 parents and younger sister

I would also like to try for the Rice/Baylor program. I've heard that it's really hard to get in--what does it take to get in? Does anyone know what they're looking for?

Definitley apply.

You have better stats than a lot of people I know who got in, myself included.

Good work.

You're competitive.
Go for it.

Your test scores, rank, and GPA are amazing, but you don't really have ECs that really stand out.

Wait, Cincinnatistudent, did you get into the Rice/Baylor program and Rice or just Rice?

i didn't apply to Rice/Baylor.

umm you would probably get in
just join a random sport and keep it, will make you look good

hey we have similar stats! except i took math iic. what else are you taking for your sat 2s?

could you get into Rice with a 3.7 GPA.I work alot and my grades have suffered because of it. I know other things are under consideration but I wanted to know if it was possible with this GPA

Yea, you can get in with a 3.7...

i got in with 1940 SAT (but english is not my first language), you should deffinetely give it a shot

I just took Math IIC, US history, and chemistry this past june... Think I did OK on Math II and US history but HORRIBLY on chemistry

well I was there on a visit and I heard that they will look at the highest 2 scores on SAT II. It doesn't matter which subjects
which is good for me because im in the same situation as you
i got us history - 760
math ii - 780
but physics like a 660 (top 51% :( )

How can you have a 5.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale? To me, that would mean that the highest GPA you could have was a 4.00.

well the regular classes are 4.0s, but the pre-AP and AP classes are 5.0s
